What God Has Taught Me Through an Aborted Foster-Care Adoption

1. Realize that when God says to do something, it is obedience He looks for and the results are up to Him.
2. Never trust your own heart - it is deceitfully wicked. But do trust your spirit - a lack of peace and joy means something is wrong!
3. Light has no fellowship with darkness.
4. Compromise and error can be subtle and mixed with a bunch of truth.
5. God's precepts and standards cannot be compromised under the guise of a means to an end.
6. God is way more interested in my sanctification than my happiness.
7. Embrace challenges and hardship as opportunities to know God and receive His provision and enabling grace.
8. Seek to grow in mercy so that you have a reservoir from which you may extend that mercy when treated unmercifully.
9. Know that contentment comes from a heart full of the knowledge of God and that circumstances have nothing to do with it.
10. In the words of Longfellow," Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way ; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day."
